Livetime Calculations

Correcting for the Busy Signal

Performing deadtime corrections or finding the true livetime of the detector is most easily done using the ratio of live triggers (in which the event was successfully digitized) to total triggers (which is counted by the uninhibited LeCroy 2551 Scaler):

Where ts, uninhibited is the total runtime of the experiment, NCFD, inhibited is the number of trigger counts on the inhibited LeCroy 2551 Scaler, and NCFD, uninhibited is the number of trigger counts on the uninhibited LeCroy 2551 Scaler.

Taking into Account Pileup Rejection

During offline data analysis, events with pileup flags are excluded from the energy spectrum, and the true livetime can be calculated with a slight modification to Eq. 6.1:

Where NPU=1 is the total number of events with pileup flags.
